Neotel network problems persist
Numerous NeoConnect and NeoFlex customers are complaining about slow speeds and service instability. Neotel has previously indicated that overloaded towers are to blame for the network problems, and the company has again said that capacity problems during their ‘roll-out phase’ may occur.
“Neotel is currently rolling out it’s CDMA network, as a result certain areas will, during the roll out phase, experience over capacity where subscriber numbers in an area exceed the capacity of the network in that area,” Neotel said.
“Neotel is closely monitoring these situations and responding by increasing capacity on these affected base stations, and in certain instances building new base stations to alleviate these issues.”
The telecoms provider added that while its CDMA network provides for theoretical maximum speeds of up to 3.1Mbps, NeoConnect subscribers should expect real world speeds of between 300kbps and 700kbps while NeoFlex customers can expect speeds of between 450kbps and 900kbps.
“Neotel has taken the approach of communicating the real world speeds rather than the theoretical maximum speeds as other operators do, as this represents a more realistic level of service that a user can experience.”
