Vodacom appoints new CFO
The recently listed Vodacom Group has appointed Rob Shuter as chief financial officer (CFO) with effect from 1 July 2009.
Shuter, a chartered accountant, had most recently been managing director of Nedbank Retail, following an extensive career in banking, corporate finance and investment banking.
Pieter Uys, CEO of the Vodacom Group, said Shuter’s appointment will build on Vodacom’s excellent financial platform and raise the bar in the way we run the business and report to shareholders.
“The JSE listing requirements, especially for a company of Vodacom’s size, demand an experienced and effective strategic finance executive such as Rob, who will also interact with the investment community at a high level,” Uys said.
Shuter will also join the Vodacom Group board as a director, become a member of its executive management committee and serve on a number of subsidiary boards.
“I am pleased that Johan van der Watt, who has been acting chief financial officer since April 2008 and who helped steer Vodacom successfully through our listing, will remain with Vodacom as Chief Officer: Group Finance”. concluded Uys.
