IS CEO resigns
Dimension Data today announced the appointment of Derek Wilcocks as Managing Director of Internet Solutions. Derek succeeds Angus MacRobert who has resigned from the company for personal reasons.
“Angus has been instrumental in growing the Internet Solutions business over the past eight years and the foundation for the company’s future success has been well established. The board of Dimension Data Middle East & Africa extend their thanks to Angus for the significant contribution he has made to building the Internet Solutions brand which is renowned for innovation, and also for his contributions over the years to the Dimension Data Middle East & Africa Group,” said Allan Cawood, chief executive officer, Dimension Data Middle East & Africa.
Commenting on the appointment of Derek Wilcocks, Cawood said: “The telecommunications service provider market in South Africa and across the continent is growing rapidly, with technology advancements and increased adoption and usage of services providing significant growth opportunities for the company. Derek’s experience and expertise within the telecommunications market and in strategy development and execution will ensure Internet Solutions continues to be an industry leader.”
Derek Wilcocks is not new to Internet Solutions. Derek began his career with the Group in 1995, as founding Managing Director of Internet Solutions subsidiary Trusted Network Solutions. He joined Internet Solutions a year later, (1996), becoming a board member and holding a number of Executive positions during his six years with the company; including the post of Managing Director from 1998 – 2001.
In 2001, Derek joined the Dimension Data brand as Executive for Strategy & Technology, and was a key figure in steering Dimension Data Middle East & Africa through the 2002/03 ICT sector downturn, and also in developing and executing the Group’s growth strategy post this period, which has delivered five years of year on year growth.
Derek assumed the position of Services Executive for the Middle East & Africa region in 2006, and has been instrumental in growing a highly successful annuity and managed services business model for Dimension Data.
