Woza Weekend gets too hot for Cell C to handle
The cellular operator said that more than 80 percent of all Woza Weekend subscribers used less than 60 minutes.
The company believes that by reducing the free calls to 60 minutes it will be able to provide "an even better user experience". According to Cell C, the Woza Weekend offering has attracted more than 1 million new subscribers.
The total number of minutes consumed during weekends on Cell C-to-Cell C calls has skyrocketed to 16 million, a 4 000 percent increase since the launch of the product in June.
Although Woza Weekend has attracted new subscribers, it remains to be seen if those customers will remain loyal if the offer is scrapped. It must be said that the product is unlikely to be scrapped any time soon as the company seems to be using it as an incentive to attract new customers.
But Woza Weekend's success could also be Cell C's undoing. The company needs to be extremely creative in coming up with a plan that will lock in these new customers if it decides to cancel the Woza Weekend offer, or ensure that they spend lots of money during the week. Easier said than done!
