Free cellular call clarification
Cell C launched their Woza Weekend offering – which allows subscribers to make free Cell C to Cell C calls over weekends – in June this year.
This offering proved so popular that the company had to limit the free minutes to 60 to protect their network against overload.
The network congestion further sparked speculation that Cell C customers roaming on the Vodacom network do not have access to the Woza Weekend free weekend minutes.
Cell C however debunked these rumours saying that all Cell C customers, including those who are roaming on the Vodacom network, have access to the free minutes offered by the Woza Weekend offering.
The company further clarified that Woza Weekend is available only for on net calls – Cell C to Cell C. Virgin Mobile users therefore do not qualify.
According to Cell C their Woza Weekend offering has brought the company more than 1 million new subscribers.
The total number of minutes consumed during weekends on Cell C-to-Cell C calls has increased 4 000 % to 16 million after the launch of this product in June.
