Telkom Mobi pricing comparison
Telkom recently released its cellular voice, SMS and data pricing. This pricing compares favourably with other offerings in the market, especially when it comes to data bundle offerings.
Virgin Mobile was not included in the pricing comparison as their rates are not easily comparable with the other operators since they have a different billing structure.
Virgin Mobile charges R2.55 for the first five minutes of voice calls per day, and R1.69 for all calls thereafter. Virgin to Virgin calls are all charged at 99c per minute. When it comes to data Virgin Mobile charges 60c per SMS, 75c per MMS and 60c per MB of data.
The following table provides a summary of prepaid pricing from the major cellular operators. It should be noted that cellular operators typically have special deals and promotions which increases the total value proposition to prepaid clients.
The "Total Cost" in the last row of the table is the sum of all the individual prices (excluding MMS). This gives a rough estimate of the total value proposition provided by the different providers, where a lower value means better overall pricing.
