HTC announces new Android handset
HTC today officially announced details about its next Android based handset, dubbed the ‘Hero’.
The Hero is pinned to be a sleeker, more lightweight device and will feature a full touch interface which will include a 3.2 inch, Teflon coated anti fingerprint TFT HVGA display.
Additionally it will feature a 529MHz Qualcomm processor, a 5 megapixel camera, GPS support, a digital compass, gravity sensor, 3.5mm stereo jack and MicroSD support.
It is also the first HTC handset to feature HTC Sense, which is set to make devices easier to use. This added functionality will target three specific areas namely ‘make it mine’, ‘stay close’ and ‘discover the unexpected’.
According to a recent HTC press release ‘make it mine’ will simplify phone personalisation by adding options such as glance view widgets, push Twitter and weather feeds. HTC’s ‘scenes’ will allow users to create specific profiles which will alter the home screen, content and applications according to personal preference.
‘Stay close’ is due to manage communication channels such as e-mails, calls or messaging into a single unified view.
According to HTC ‘discover the unexpected’ will include a new interface for viewing content from sources such as Twitter, email, music and photos.
The HTC Hero will be available from July onwards. No official announcement regarding when it will be available locally, on which networks or at what price has yet been made.
