Vodacom launches Vodafone My Web
Vodacom has launched Vodafone My Web, a new digital content portal that enables users to customise the website around their personalised digital content.
Vodafone My Web is the evolution of Vodacom’s Vodafone homepage portal that was introduced to the market in December 2008. Vodafone My Web is a customisable web and mobile portal that offers a wide range of content – news, weather, sport, entertainment, lifestyle and shopping. The service can be customized by dragging and dropping widgets into their web portal, with the same view reflected on supported cellphones.
“My Web offers a converged portal experience between web and mobile, aligning with Vodacom’s growth strategy to provide customers with valued-added total communication services through new converged ICT solutions,” says Shameel Joosub, Managing Director, Vodacom South Africa.
“Unique identity branding is crucial to both web and cellphone users today who prefer to capture their individuality through the personalisation of content. Vodafone My Web gives users the ability to choose the content they want, in the format they want, when they want – and because of the Really Simple Syndication (RSS) functionality of the portal, content is always fresh.”
Vodafone My Web is supported and accessible to subscribers on any South African network. The service is free (standard data charges apply); users will only be charged for buying content.
Vodacom could not immediate say why subscribers enjoy zero-rated data access to the Vodafone Live portal while standard data charges apply to the new Vodafone My Web portal.
