BlackBerry Desktop Manager released for Mac

Research in Motion (RIM), manufacturers of BlackBerry devices announced that the BlackBerry Desktop Manager will be released for the Apple Mac devices.

The Desktop Manager will allow users to sync data from Mac based applications such as iCal, address book and Microsoft Entourage as well as add and remove applications, schedule automatic backup files and install firmware updates to the device.

In addition Desktop Manager will integrate with Blackberry Media Sync which will enable users to synchronize their iTunes music collection with their device. This will also allow for playlists and song information to be transported from a Mac to the BlackBerry device.

BlackBerry Desktop Manager is designed to run on Mac computers with Mac OS 10.5.5 and higher and supports BlackBerry devices running BlackBerry OS 4.2 and higher.

The software is scheduled to become freely available for download on the BlackBerry website on 2 October.
