Wii Fit Plus hits SA shelves

Local Nintendo distributors, Core Group, today announced that Wii Fit Plus would be released locally on the 30th of October 2009.

Wii Fit Plus adds to the original Wii Fit title in a number of ways. Users will now be able to customise strength training in order to incorporate specific goals. Specific areas of the body can also be targeted and routines which can include up to 30 exercises can be saved.

The game also includes a number of new features including BMI (body mass index), oxygen use and calorie expenditure measurements and introduces 50% more content that the previous version.

Wii Fit Plus comes packaged with the Wii Balance Board with its sensors measuring weight and detecting shifts in balance, both from side-to-side and front-to-back. A standalone version of the game will also be available if customers already have a Wii Balance Board.

No official announcement has yet been made regarding pricing. The original Wii Fit retails for roughly R1,200 locally, Wii Fit Plus is likely to be available at a similar price point.
