XBox 360 versus PS3

This is currently the most contentious arena in gaming: which console is best, Microsoft’s Xbox 360 or Sony’s PS3? Ultimately, it’s a question of personal taste and budget, as the recorded differences in graphic quality are minor.

The PS3 occupies the upper end of the market with a price tag more than twice that of a similar Xbox, but the hardware delivers slightly more than its competitors.

The PS3 has a built-in Blue-Ray player and significant on board- hard drive that makes it a better bet for those seeking an all-in-one home entertainment computer and with sophisticated styling and sleek menu design it looks great next to a high-end LCD television.

Price: About R4 900 (40GB), R5 100 (80GB), R5 600 (160GB).

Look out for deals that bundle the console with games.
