The SA Xbox Live dilemma
MyBroadband recently caught up with SA Microsoft Representative John Press in order to get a firmer understanding of why SA is still lacking official Xbox Live recognition.
Press told us that the lack of Live is not related to the current broadband situation in SA. Apparently SA Microsoft has been trying for two years to get a local Xbox Live service, but “internal conflicts” have prevented any progress.
“There are various requirements from Microsoft Corp that must be fulfilled in order for SA to be prioritized.”
Press did mention that Microsoft SA is working hard on getting Live to SA, and they do realize the importance of the service in terms of the overall Xbox 360 experience.
Press unfortunately could not comment on the details of the “internal” conflicts.
As it stands, the outlook for Xbox Live in SA is still rather bleak, with not even a vague idea of when we can expect to receive the service, if ever.
