Subsidised laptops welcomed
An initiative which will allow teachers to purchase subsidized laptops will help raise standards of education in the country, SADTU said on Sunday.
“Our teachers will now receive subsidised laptops which have far reaching implications towards improving the quality of education,” said the SA Democratic Teacher’s Union on Sunday after its national executive committee met in Johannesburg.
“Our teachers will be able to access relevant information for teaching and learning, as well as for their own professional development via the internet.”
The union said the initiative would be launched next Wednesday at the Education Labour Relations Council.
SADTU represents two-thirds of the country’s teachers with union membership standing at 246,280 members.
