Telecoms company searches for foul mouthed employee
The hunt began when a woman in the North Island city of Wanganui said that after complaining to Telecom about the time it took for text messages to arrive from family members, she received a message apparently from a customer service representative saying “f*** you.”
Telecom spokesman Nick Brown said initial investigations showed that similar messages may have been sent to four other customers from an eTXT website, which allowed a computer user to send a text message to a cell phone.
He said the computer used could be anywhere around the world and fraud and technical experts were working to identify the internet addresses involved.
Telecom New Zealand has 7,000 employees in New Zealand and 1,600 in Australia, and call centres in the Philippines and elsewhere around the world.
