DoC DG misses all Audit Committee meetings
According to the Department of Communications’ annual report for the financial year ending 31 March 2006, the Audit Committee consists of four members, namely TZ Gcabashe (Chairperson), Z Lesame, N Oliphant and L Shope-Mafole (DG).
The audit committee meets four times a year ‘as per approved terms of reference’. During this financial year one special meeting was arranged so that five meetings were scheduled. According to the DoC report only three meetings were held ‘because of the audit committee not forming a quorum as a result of resignation of members’.
Gcabashe and Oliphant attended 2 meetings each while Lesame attended 3 meetings. Shope-Mafole did not attend a single meeting according to the DoC annual report.
The DoC was contacted for comment but no one was available to give feedback on the issue.
