Gautrain website a big hit

Launched two weeks ago by the Bombela Consortium, the MyTrain website has already had more than 15000 hits.

The website was created by Bombela Consortium, builders of the R25-billion Gautrain rapid-rail system linking Johannesburg and Pretoria, to encourage children to pursue careers in engineering and related fields, and to provide information about the Gautrain project, said Gautrain spokesman Barbara Jensen,

“We are absolutely delighted with the response we are getting on the website.”

The picture-and-graphics-driven website contains video clips, route maps, station sites and photographs of the Gautrain, as well as step-by-step information on how things are done.

Said Jensen: “The interest in the website is proof that we cannot do enough to satisfy the interest of people about the Gautrain.

“What is also heart-warming is to see people taking ownership of the Gautrain — one of the main objectives of the youth site, which is called MyTrain.co.za.”

She said the site had received many encouraging messages.

“One of the comments we received said: ‘It is so wonderful to see a project like the Gautrain happening. It truly makes me proud to be a South African and I can’t wait for what the future of South Africa holds.

“‘Congrats to everyone working on the project … it looks like it’s going to be awesome!’”
