More Power Cuts from Eskom

Power utility Eskom said that it had resumed load shedding on Thursday morning after a short spell of load shedding during the peak period on Wednesday night. This was due to technical problems at its power stations.

It said that load shedding would continue throughout the day and the risk remained high for the rest of the week, but should ease at the weekend.

"We request all electricity consumers to use power efficiently. Summer is a critical period for Eskom because we do routine maintenance of our plant," said chief executive Jacob Maroga.

Load shedding would be implemented on a rotational basis nationally, Eskom said, adding that it would continue to update consumers on the supply situation.
