HD PVR update on the cards

In answer to a slew of negative comments from HD PVR users over a lack of software updates and numerous software bugs in the HD PVR system, Multichoice has said that there is a software update planned "in the next few months". The company says that the update will iron out wrinkles in the system.

There are rumours circulating that this update may be available as early as April, although this cannot yet be confirmed.

When questioned about the general dissatisfaction among users in the HD range, Multichoice did admit that the product was not perfect to begin with but was rolled out in a bid to make the channel available for the 2009 Olympics.

The company said that although there were imperfections in the initial system it had rolled out several subsequent updates to rectify these and it was now close to addressing all the initial problems that the HD PVR has experienced.

Although there are plans to widen the range of HD channels available, Multichoice has also said that it would be sticking with just one HD channel for the rest of 2009 with a focus to improving the programming and the service as a whole for the time being.

Multichoice said that HD users were welcome to vocalise their complaints on the recently re-organised DSTV forum. According to the company each forum is now closely monitored by either a technical or communications representative.
