Laptops to all 10-year-olds
The initiative will affect some 420,000 children of about 10 years of age in the next school year, Zapatero said in a speech to parliament.
He also announced that the government would provide €70 million ($95 million) to help unemployed people aged between 25 and 40 attend university for free.
Spain’s unemployment rate has nearly doubled over the past year to reach 17.4% in the first quarter, the highest level in the 27-nation European Union and double that of the United States.
