Nokia Booklet release date in SA revealed

Nokia has announced that South Africa is likely to see a local release of the Nokia N97 mini and the anticipated Nokia 3G Booklet in 2010.

The company has however confirmed that the N900, Nokia’s new flagship smartphone, will not hit South African shelves.

Nokia N97 mini

The Nokia N97 mini is similar to the conventional N97 package in a number of ways but offers a more compact casing for users who prefer a less bulky handset.

The device features a 3.2 inch TFT resistive touch screen, 8GB of storage capacity with MicroSD support for up to 16GB as well as 3.6Mbps, HSDPA, EDGE and GPRS connectivity. It includes a 5 Megapixel camera with an LED flash and autofocus, A-GPS support through Nokia Maps and a 434 MHz ARM 11 processor.

Nokia Booklet 3G

The Nokia Booklet represents the manufacturer’s first move into the mobile PC market. The device features an Intel Atom Z530, 1.6GHz processor, a 120GB hard drive, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, a 10.1 inch display, HDMI 1.2 support, 3 USB connectors and an SD card reader.

In terms of wireless connectivity the Booklet 3G includes 802.11 b/g/n support, Bluetooth 2.1 and a built-in 3G modem.
