ADSL router with integrated 3G modem
Nology today announced the availability of Billion’s latest offering, the 7800GZ, a 3G/HSDPA embedded ADSL2+ wireless VPN firewall router.
With embedded 3G and HSDPA capability, users insert a compatible SIM card into the built in slot to share a 3G/HSDPA connection wirelessly in a small office. An integrated IPSec VPN function enables encryption of up to four VPN tunnels to securely transmit data over the Internet.
“With the growing popularity of mobile connectivity as an alternative to traditional broadband, especially among smaller businesses in South Africa, the compatibility of various USB modems is becoming more and more of a problem,” says Riaan Leuschner, MD of Nology.
“This innovative router provides SOHOs and office users the ability to share secure mobile broadband across their organisations using one router and one SIM card instead of multiple USB modems, making connectivity more convenient and available than ever. In addition, users will not be tied in with a two-year contract and can choose a monthly contract or ‘pay as you go’ option.”
The 7800GZ features a dual-WAN interface. This provides adaptability for SMEs, as they can connect to the Internet via ADSL, via Broadband connectivity by configuring one of the Ethernet ports as a WAN, or via 3G by inserting a 3G/HSDPA SIM card into the built in SIM slot.
“The auto fail-over feature ensures maximum connectivity and minimum interruption by quickly and smoothly connecting to a 3G network in the event that the ADSL line fails. The 7800GZ will then automatically reconnect to the ADSL connection when it is restored, minimising connection costs,” adds Leuschner. “These features are perfect for office situations where a constant connection is paramount.”
