Local Apple Mac Pro pricing announced

Apple recently announced a brand new Mac Pro –with eight processor cores and a new system architecture that delivers up to twice the performance of its predecessor.

The new Mac Pro combines two of Intel’s new 45 nanometer Quad-Core Xeon processors running up to 3.2 GHz, new graphics and up to 4TB of internal storage.

Many local Apple enthusiasts were happy with the news that Mac Pro would be faster, but speculated that the price may be in the region of R 36 000 – around double the price in the United States.

This speculation was however based on the advertised price of an end of line model in Apple’s local online store, and the actual price for the new machine is significantly less.

Apple announced that the new Mac Pro will retail at R26 000 including VAT.

This price is in line with the UK price of R 23 015.69 which should serve as the benchmark for local prices as South Africa falls under this ‘Apple Region’.
