AMD ships triple-cores
AMD has released an updated set of its Phenom processors, this time in a triple-core form that will appeal to gamers as well as users who want to reduce their power consumption (AMD Phenom image here).
Of the three new triple-core Phenom X3 processors, the Phenom X3 8750 Black Edition will appeal to gamers. The processor includes the "Clock Multiplier Control" feature which lets users fine tune the processors by increasing the CPU frequencies from their default 2.4 GHz. And, despite its power, the processor uses just 95 watts.
The other two processors, the Phenom X3 8250e and Phenom X3 8450e, are aimed at more power-conscious users and consume just 65 watts of power. The two run at 1.9 GHz and 2.1 GHz respectively.
All three of the processors also include better support for Microsoft’s Hyper-V virtualisation platform.
