Amazon cuts Kindle price
The online retail giant offered the Kindle on the homepage of its website for the new price but did not make any separate announcement about the move.
The price cut does not apply to the large-screen version of the Kindle, the Kindle DX, which still costs $489.
Amazon does not reveal sales figures for the Kindle and chief executive Jeff Bezos said at the annual shareholders meeting in May that the company may never reveal the numbers.
