Students run racist Facebook
Two students put up a racist page on Facebook, with a staged photo of an armed white man standing over the body of a black boy.
Management at the University of the North West says it’s appalled by an offensive and racist Facebook group being run by two of its students, Radio 702 reports.
The group called "Ek laaik nie ’n houtkop nie, so what" contains inflammatory comments posted by members and an alarming photograph of a young white man holding a gun while posing over the trophy of a young black boy.
The group currently has 48 members, all white and mostly Afrikaans.
Under the description label, the administrators of the group use the k word saying it’s been set up for all those who think black people are destroying the country and must ’gaan kak’.
While the messages posted by members agree that all black people should die, it is a photograph on the page that is most alarming.
North West University’s Potchefstroom Rector Annette Combrink says she’s deeply shocked by the posting.
She says management will take the matter up with the students immediately.
