Fin24 gets a facelift
South Africa’s largest financial portal, Fin24.com, was recently redesigned using a new custom built content management system (CMS). This process also included a facelift, giving the popular finance website a fresh look (New Fin24 website image || Old Fin24 Website image )
“The over-arching principle of the site redesign is to highlight our original copy by creating a greater sense of news hierarchy. The top story will provide us with the platform to chase down stories you find compelling,” said Fin24 Editor David McKay.
The previous redesign in July last year proved to be somewhat of a mess, and the current Fin24 team of McKay and deputy editor Ana Monteiro made certain the same would not happen again. The new website has been live for the past six weeks and tested thoroughly.
McKay said that the biggest test of all for this redesign is his readers’ reaction. “I hope you’ll be unstinting in your response to our efforts,” said McKay.
Biggest finance website
Fin24 is the most popular destination for people looking for the latest finance news. During September Fin24 attracted 480,494 unique visitors and served 2,948,222 pages.
This means Fin24 is much larger than competing websites like Business Report with 234,822 unique monthly visitors, Moneyweb with 162,495 unique visitors and Business Day with 152,564 unique browsers.
With a fresh look and better organized information, Fin24 is likely to strengthen its position as the market leader in the business reporting space.
