Don't buy your babies over the Internet
“I can confirm that they will be prosecuted,” a prosecution spokeswoman told AFP. “The exact charges are not yet known. The charge sheet is not yet finalised.”
The child, dubbed Baby Jayden in the media, was taken from the Dutch couple and handed over to Belgian authorities last December.
The Dutch couple, who are reportedly unable to have children of their own, made contact with the boy’s biological mother after seeing a web advertisement, and took him a few hours after he was born in a hospital in Ghent, in the Dutch-speaking Flanders region of Belgium, in July 2008.
Dutch media have claimed that the couple paid the child’s biological parents between €5 000 and €10 000.
