Twitter a win for media freedom

Lawyers acting for Netherlands-registered company Trafigura obtained an injunction stopping The Guardian newspaper from reporting questions lawmaker Paul Farrelly had asked in Parliament.

Bloggers and users of social networking site Twitter began discussing the case. British law firm Carter Ruck agreed Tuesday that The Guardian could publish details of Farrelly’s questions.

Several thousands sought medical treatment after waste from a tanker chartered by Trafigura Beheer BV was offloaded at sites around Abidjan in August 2006. Carter Ruck and Trafigura did not comment.
