Google releases Chrome 3.0

Google has announced the release of Chrome 3.0 for PCs, adding that a Mac version of the browser will be out within a few months.

According to Google this updated Chrome build has improved by over 150% in Javascript performance since its first Beta and by over 25% since the most recent stable release.

Among other improvements including enhancements to the New Tabs bar and the Omnibox Chrome 3.0 features further HTML5 capabilities.

“We’re very excited about HTML5 becoming standard in modern browsers, and continued to add HTML5 capabilities to this stable release. We’re particularly excited about the tag in HTML5, which makes embedding videos in a page as simple as embedding regular images. The tag also allows video playback without a plug-in,” said a recent posting on the official Google blog.

After testing Themes for Chrome in the beta channel the company has announced that it has included this addition to the browser features.

A Mac version of the browser is currently available for testing and the stable release is due to be rolled out before the end of 2009.

Google Chrome is currently fourth in the browser rankings with roughly 2.8% of the market share. In comparison Internet Explorer is first with roughly 67%, Mozilla Firefox second with 23% and Apple’s Safari third with around 4%.
