License conversion hearings start soon

The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) has informed licensees, the general public and other stakeholders of the venue and agenda for the public hearings for the conversion of all communications licences in terms of the Electronic Communications Act.

The hearings will take place from the 1 st of October to the 11 th of October at the CEDA Park Hotel and Conference Centre in Woodmead, Sandton.

AME, Caxton, NAB, MDDA, Telkom Media, MultiChoice, SABC, E TV and Walking on Water will make presentations for broadcasting class and individual licenses.

In the Electronic Communications Networks Services (ECNS) class and individual licenses category Orbicom, Sentech, Eskom, Transnet, Vodacom, Cell C, MTN, Neotel and Telkom will all be making their case with presentations.

In the less comprehensive Electronic Communications Services (ECS) class and individual license category DBI, GTS, Virgin Mobile, TelFree, Smile, Altech Autopage, Fleetcall, ISPA, WBS, M-Web and Internet Solutions will be making presentations.

The event will conclude with a workshop about relevant issues with interested stakeholders and a discussion with all interested stakeholders.
