Neotel gains access to SAT3/SAFE

Speaking at the company’s Enterprise Product launch Neotel Managing Director Ajay Pandey said that Neotel has already gained access to the SAT3 undersea cable system and is connected to the landing station.

Angus Hay, Neotel’s Executive Head of Strategy, added that while they currently buy capacity from Telkom the company is in advanced stages to offer their clients full international circuits without using Telkom’s network at all. Hay pointed out that a ‘Telkom free’ circuit is in fact a requirement from one of their large clients.

Hay further pointed out that construction is under way for Neotel to plug-directly into the SAT3 cable.

Hay said that Neotel will purchase unused capacity on the SAT3 cable to serve its international bandwidth needs. No details about Neotel’s actual capacity on the cable were given.

Neotel highlighted that they have been contracted to land the SEACOM cable in South Africa – a system with a design capacity of 1.28 Tbps.

Through its shareholder VSNL Neotel says it provides direct connectivity in Johannesburg to a Global Tier 1 Internet provider. The company further promises direct peering with all Internet Service Providers in South Africa.
