ICASA shuts down wireless networks

ICASA confirmed that it confiscated wireless equipment from high sites in Sandton yesterday.

According to an anonymous source ICASA ‘invaded’ high sites in Sandton with a court order and armed guards, confiscating equipment from various wireless providers. A number of businesses were offline due to the removal of this equipment.

ICASA said that the reason for confiscating the wireless equipment is that the providers did not abide by the high site installation rules from ICASA. The violations listed by ICASA included frequency irregularities and the lack of required information on the antennas.
