ISPA briefs ISPs in Gauteng
Delays and uncertainties surrounding the new licensing framework and how it will apply to VANS are a concern for ISPs and this is sure to be a hot topic during the roadshow planned from 11 to 13 March and from 25 to 27 March 2008.
According to ISPA feedback derived from ISPA members during the roadshow will form a crucial part of the Association’s direction and strategy. It is hoped that close interaction with the members will raise more insight about important industry issues with respect to current activities.
“Roadshows are an effective way to build closer relationships with our members and help them stay abreast of legislative changes. We’d like to engage with our members and help them understand where the industry is headed and how they can help shape it,” commented Ant Brooks, ISPA general manager and a member of the roadshow team.
The Electronic Communications & Transactions (ECT) Act already places certain obligations on ISPs, particularly relating to unsolicited commercial messages or spam, and ISPs are sure to ask for clarification and advice regarding this pivotal piece of legislation.
“One of our primary objectives as an organisation is to identify the individual needs of ISPs to enable us to determine how best to advise them. The Gauteng road show will not only encourage participation, it will also ensure that the needs of ISPs are being heard and dealt with where possible,” concluded Mr Brooks.
