ICASA publish licensing procedures
The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) has finalised and published two sets of regulations that are critical to licensing.
The one set pertains to the processes and procedures to be followed when applying for, amending, renewing, transferring and surrendering any individual licence. This will also provide for the processes and procedures that need to be followed when applying for temporary special authorisations.
Another set of regulations deals with the processes and procedures to be followed when registering, amending, renewing, transferring and surrendering class licences. The same regulations also provide for processes and procedures that are applicable for services and networks’ licence exemptions.
According to ICASA all new applicants can now apply in terms of these processes and chapter 3 of the Electronic Communications Act.
The full licensing procedure and application documents are available on the ICASA website.
