Neotel NeoHost details

Neotel has recently launched their first hosting offering called NeoHost. NeoHost offers enterprise clients a colocation hosting service with bandwidth scalability to cope with traffic peaks.

“Customers can choose between 1Mbps, 2Mbps, 5Mbps or 10Mbps of 'burstable' bandwidth, allowing them to cater for unplanned demand and to benefit from a scalable tariff plan,” the company said.

Neotel's new datacentre is located in New Doornfontein in Johannesburg and is connected to Neotel’s International Tier 1 IP backbone with access to SAT3/SAFE capacity.

Neotel further points out that all their hosting customers have access to the network via 10/100 network interfaces.

Neotel feels that it brings of strong value proposition to the table: “A facility which is highly secure, completely redundant and connected to Tier 1 International PoP, thus offering true Tier 1 International bandwidth to customers with robust safe physical infrastructure.”

The company further says that they have round-the-clock power availability and managed services, which allows customer to reduce their total cost of ownership for the services and better service all the time.

Pricing

Neotel said that it is very difficult to give any “commoditised” pricing – such as the cost per Megabyte – often associated with hosting packages, as its NeoHost enterprise service is priced on a solution rather than a single component.

The company indicated that it is even possible that some clients will be offered unlimited bandwidth which makes this kind of pricing irrelevant.

Neotel did however promise “competitive colocation pricing with applicable usage based bandwidth models”.

The company is further planning hosting offerings aimed at the consumer and SMME market, and here users can expect some commoditised pricing models associated with more traditional hosting packages.
