Bonus round
It has been whispered to us that Telkom Media has apparently paid some employees a bonus. Nothing wrong with bonuses in general, of course. But what are staff at Telkom Media getting a bonus for, since the company has not been in operation yet?
It will be interesting to know what performance measures, if any, were used to decide how much to give. And where is this money coming from? So far Telkom Media has not offered services commercially and there is even great uncertainty whether the company will eventually take off.
Maybe the bonus money, wherever it comes from, is incentive to lock staff in. Retaining staff at a non-functioning company for months on end must be no small feat.
The company has already lost some staff and, at this rate, it will have to work hard to attract new recruits.
