Neotel explains NeoFlex pricing
Neotel recently launched its multi-user NeoFlex data service with two pricing options: a 10GB service for R699 a month and a 15GB offering for R899 a month.
Some consumers were not very impressed with the pricing, questioning why the NeoFlex service was more expensive than the NeoConnect service where a 10GB service was priced at R599 a month while a 15GB package cost R699.
Neotel explained that its NeoConnect was a product more suited to an individual. “It is high speed Internet with Voice and SMS and is a converged device based on CDMA Rev 0 technology (average speed of 300 -700 kps),” said Neotel’s Albi Modise.
“On the other hand, NeoFlex data is a multi-user data-only device based on the Rev A CDMA technology with the speed of between 450kps to 900kps downlink and 300kps to 700kps on the reverse link. These are two largely different products that can not be directly compared,” said Modise.
Neotel pointed out that the two NeoFlex packages presented to the market were a direct response to what users wanted. The company did however indicate that it was committed to meeting customer requirements and that “if there is a significant demand for other packages, this will be assessed”.
Modise highlighted that the NeoFlex Data service provides unshaped bandwidth.
