Telkom official held for fraud
National police spokesperson Director Phuti Setati said members of the commercial branch arrested Beauty Sonny Ramaisela, 35, of Moreleta Park in Pretoria on Tuesday.
She appeared briefly in the Pretoria Commercial Crime Court and was released on R5 000 bail.
The case against her was postponed to September 5.
Ramaisela allegedly opened bank accounts using false particulars and also caused Telkom to deposit huge amounts of money into those accounts.
She allegedly further made misrepresentations to the Telkom credit management division, causing them to believe that the payments in those fictitious accounts were legitimate.
The clients to whom the payments were made were either fictitious or did not actually receive the payment as arranged by the accused.
