ICASA promotes consumer rights
The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) is hosting a Consumer Rights Roadshows across the country. The purpose for the Roadshows is to create awareness to consumers about their right to access communication services relating to electronic communications, broadcasting and postal services.
The Roadshows is attended amongst others by ICASA Councillors and Executive Management, the Licensees and various stakeholders. ICASA said that it provides a platform for the Authority, Licensees and stakeholders to interface with the public, disseminate information as well as enabling the Authority to receive consumer complaints from the remote areas of our country.
ICASA says that they will emphasize consumers’ rights to information, affordable prices, quality services, choice of representation and choice to redress.
The Roadshow started on 13 February in the Eastern Cape and will end on 7 March in the Klein Karoo District Municipality in the Western Cape.
