iBurst explains capping problems

iBurst has come under fire recently for its shaping and capping policies. Many long-time iBurst subscribers complained that they were not able to use certain services and were capped despite being on the company’s Pro package.

iBurst explains that its capping policies are still that “Play packages are hard capped (ie disconnected from network when reaching quota) and Pro packages are throttled (ie max 64kbps when reaching quota).”

iBurst said that there is no new capping policy, and that subscriber complaints most likely stem from a problem which occurred last Monday.

“We did have an incident on Monday evening, where a change implemented at 19h30 caused all Pro subscribers to be hard capped. When we discovered the problem we rolled back the changes at 23h00 that evening,” the company explained.
