Telkom and MultiChoice have entered into an exclusive six-month promotion which will see Telkom broadband contracts being bundled with DStv Explora decoders.
To qualify for the deal Telkom Internet subscribers must upgrade to a 10 Megabits per second (Mbps) or faster line and sign a 24-month contract.
New subscribers can also qualify if they take out a 24-month contract on a 10Mbps line (or faster).
These bundled deals will be available from 23 November 2014, Telkom said.
Queried about the partnership, MultiChoice said that more details of its deal with Telkom will be shared in a media announcement later this week (17–21 November 2014).
News of the deal between the two companies comes a few days after MultiChoice announced the launch of its suite of online features for the DStv Explora.
Subscribers with personal video recording (PVR) access (R75/month) will be able to set recordings on the Explora remotely using the DStv.com desktop or mobile web portals, or the DStv Now application for Android and iOS.
DStv Premium subscribers also receive access to Catch Up Plus, a value-added service which expands their existing Catch Up library with extra movies and television content which can be downloaded to the Explora.
These features become available when connecting the Explora to the Internet using a normal Ethernet cable, or by plugging in a DStv Wi-Fi Connector (recommended retail price: R399) which lets you connect the decoder to your home Wi-Fi network.
