Asynchronous Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) subscribers in Bellville, Somerset West, Paarl, and Stellenbosch are complaining that Telkom’s DSL services in the area are offline.
The only indication of what might be causing the problem is a network status notice which states that a link in Telkom’s network in the Bellville area is down.
According to the notice, ADSL and leased line users may be impacted with slow connectivity, and technicians are attending to the problem.
However, subscribers experiencing problems say that their connections aren’t just slow, but have been completely offline since between 13:30 and 14:00 today, 3 December 2014.
Users in Cape Town proper have reported they are unaffected by the outage.
Telkom was contacted for more information, but did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
