DSL384, 10GB data, free weekend browsing: R299

Uncapped ADSL offerings have stolen the limelight over the past week with pricing dipping below R200 per month for an uncapped ADSL account.

Bundled uncapped DSL384 pricing has also plummeted.  Vox Telecom’s ‘384 DSL line + uncapped ADSL usage’ bundle, retailing for R339, is far lower than the previous offerings which hovered around R500 per month.

While Cybersmart is still investigating the feasibility of an uncapped offering, it is set to launch two new 384 Kbps ADSL offerings which will provide users with great value for money.

“Instead of trying to get our average usage to be acceptable low – hence around 10 GB per month – and have low users subsidize high users or by throttling high bandwidth users, we are going to be offering caps that should be high enough  for most users not to be capped in the month,” says Cybersmart CEO Laurie Fialkov.

“Our offerings guarantee fairness and greater speeds. Some users will argue that 10GB caps are not large enough, but our median usage is between 3GB and 6GB per month, comparable to median usage throughout the world,” Fialkov said.
