Afrihost has amended its Business DSL advertising following a complaint to the Advertising Standards Authority of South Africa (ASA).
Afrihost’s Business DSL description on its website listed “Fixed IPs” as a common feature with all its packages.
The complainant argued that the plural reference to “IPs” presupposes multiple IP addresses.
“However, Afrihost is not willing to permit subscribers to have more than one IP address per account,” the complainant said.
Afrihost decided to clarify its offer by changing the product labelling to refer to the singular “IP”. It also added a footnote to clarify that only one Fixed IP is available per DSL username.
The ASA accepted Afrihost’s amendments as an adequate resolution to the complainant’s concerns.
