Red Africa: Up to 130GB ADSL data for R199
In March 2005 DOTCO, via its reseller ISP AllYouCanEat, launched their 30GB ADSL accounts at R680 per month at a time when most ADSL users were using 3GB accounts priced at over R200 each.
In the same year Web Africa reduced the price to R199 for 30GB, undercutting ISPs like Axxess, AllYouCanEat and Hyperlink who were all selling affordable 30GB ADSL accounts at the time.
This special was however short lived after Telkom pulled the plug on this special wholesale rate, and users once again had to grow accustomed to limiting their usage to 3GB per month.
Web Africa repeated their 30GB for R199 offer in a limited MyBroadband special in February 2010 to thank “MyBroadband’s members for their support over the last few years”.
30GB for R199 is back – with added data
Web Africa has now joined the red branding ‘revolution’ with its own Red Africa ADSL special: 30GB of ADSL data with 100GB of ‘Download Plus’ data at R199 per month.
Download Plus usage will be deducted during Off Peak times which are between 12am – 6am, instead of deducting from a user’s standard usage.
Good news for current MyBroadband Special users who subscribed to Web Africa’s R199 for 30GB special in February 2010 is that they will also get 100GB of Download Plus data free of charge added to their accounts.
Web Africa CEO, Matthew Tagg joked about the new red rebranding: “We had an extensive look at the industry and concluded that red must be the way of the future. Our previous branding is unsustainable in comparison, so we have decided to join the ‘redvolution’”.
There are however only 150 of the 30GB for R199 special accounts available. Web Africa will offer 30 new accounts per day from today until Friday – with sign ups opening up each day at 12:00.
