MWEB ADSL DNS issues being resolved

Mweb ADSL

On Thursday 9 June 2011 some MWEB ADSL subscribers reported problems on the network with slow speeds or no connectivity.

MWEB said at the time that the problem was caused by their IPConnect (IPC) link and it was affecting their Gauteng subscribers.

The problem was quickly resolved, and MWEB advised users to reboot their routers if they experienced slow or no data transfer.

MWEB ISP MD Derek Hershaw explained that the problems were caused by an issue the company has with around 5% of their subscribers who have static / fixed DNS settings.  This is the same issue which caused problems around a month ago.

“We’re busy with a process to contact all these subscribers individually and get them configured properly and that should be the end of it,” said Hershaw.

MWEB expects it to take around a month to individually contact and assist the affected group.

“For now we have a workaround in place which is working and everyone can connect as per normal,” said Hershaw.
