Telkom has recently announced that MWEB, Internet Solutions, WebAfrica and Cybersmart will join Telkom Internet to test broadband speeds of up to 40Mbps in areas where Telkom has deployed new generation access network kits.
The areas in which the trials will be conducted are Benmore Gardens, Fourways and Waterkloof in Gauteng; Durban North in Kwa-Zulu Natal; and Durbanville in the Western Cape.
Web Africa CEO Tim Wyatt-Gunning said that they have finalized a list of customers who fall within the limited geographical reach of the trial, and that they are busy contacting these customers.
Good news is that all the qualifying customers’’ broadband speeds will be increased free of charge.
“For uncapped customers, we will upgrade their ADSL lines to their maximum available speed for the duration of the trial at no cost,” said Wyatt-Gunning.
“For capped customers, we will give them an extra 10GB of data free each month for the duration of the trial at the VDSL speeds so that they can at least taste the future potential and provide us with feedback.”
Web Africa will provide qualifying subscribers with a loan VDSL router for free for the duration of the trial.
Telkom Internet recently invited qualifying Telkom Internet customers in designated areas to participate in the Telkom high-speed broadband pilot programme at no additional charge.
