Telkom ADSL speed boost update
Telkom started to upgrade its “Up to 1024kbps” ADSL users to “Up 2048kbps” on Friday 24 August 2012, and started to upgrade its 384kbps ADSL clients to 1Mbps on 1 October 2012. By the end of October, most of Telkom’s ADSL clients have been enjoying these higher speeds.
Telkom said that as at 22 October 2012, 74% of its 384kbps ADSL clients had been upgraded to 1Mbps, and 84% of its 1Mbps subscribers’ speeds had been upgraded to 2Mbps.
Telkom explained that the main reason for customers not having been upgraded yet is that their modems are switched off, hence impeding the technical process of finding the best possible sync rate for their services.
However, Telkom highlighted that the ADSL speed upgrades are ongoing, and that it is working hard to ensure that all the 384kbps and 1Mbps line speeds are bumped up as soon as possible.
