Uncapped ADSL: how much can you really download?
Afrihost’s “Uncapped Kingpins” rankings reveal that the top user downloaded 1.3 TB of data over the last 31 days. The second ranked downloader also cracked the terabyte barrier.
South African Internet Service Providers (ISPs) have different ways to deal with network congestion related to uncapped accounts, which include traffic shaping and throttling.
While some of the uncapped ADSL rules from some ISPs are transparent, others are less forthcoming regarding the way they deal with users who download large amounts.
This raises the question of how much data the top uncapped users are consuming. Afrihost’s “Uncapped Kingpins” ranking gives some insight into the data consumption of high end users.
