Telkom ADSL IPC boost announced

Telkom announced in a press statement today (13 August 2013) that it will provide 5% additional IP connect capacity to all existing IP Connect wholesale customers at no additional cost, with effect from 1 October 2013.
IP Connect (IPC) is the wholesale product Telkom sells to service providers such as Internet Solutions and Mweb through which they can offer ADSL services.
The announcement comes after industry sources indicated that they expected to soon see a single-digit percentage IPC rate cut from Telkom.
According to Telkom, the decision to provide additional IPC capacity to its existing customers is independent of its recent settlement with the Competition Commission.
“The Company remains committed to the implementations of the agreement and announcements in this regard will be made in due course,” Telkom said.
Under the stipulations of the agreement, Telkom is to reduce prices of wholesale prices over the 2014, 2015, and 2016 financial years for those services implicated in the complaints and used by Internet Service Providers.
